Listen: Love Me Butch "Worldwide Transgression"

Love Me Butch (LMB) were among Malaysia's forefront rock heavyweights from the 90s through to 2010s. After dominating the live scene for more than a decade, inspiring many younger musicians and bands, members Wing Meng (guitar), Kevin Kong (bass) and Jana Nair (drums) bade former vocalist Syarul Reza farewell after their last live show in 2015.

"Worldwide Transgression" was released in 2012 and it exploded onto a scene that was slowly becoming saturated with all-too-familiar acts. Album opener "Generation S.O.S" immediately plunges the listener into an intense roller-coaster ride, with driving rhythms and breakdowns accentuated by strong yet beseeching vocal melodies.

When you think you have time to recover, "In Honor & Gratitude" blasts into sonic mayhem that only burrows deeper into your being. Brilliant song-writing is evident and almost expected from a band that is widely respected for their unique sound and sonic structures. The entire record serves as a suitable playlist for driving, work (depending on the nature of your work), studying or to simply rock out in your room where your parents or neighbors can't see and judge.

We can only hope for LMB to continue their journey, inspiring us all.
